What changed on Bearletter

Page 2

October 2026

  1. A new theme: Gazette

Gazette pairs a newspaper's masthead, rules and drop cap with Editorial's comfortable type. Post lists on the home page and folder pages now carry each post's summary; Editorial, Newspaper and Gazette show it, other themes keep it hidden.

  2. Easier to find, and no AI training by default

Discover now loads with the page, so search engines and first visits see it at once. Every Pro blog's robots.txt asks AI companies not to train on it; search engines and AI answers that link to you are still welcome. To allow training, turn it on in your blog's Settings.

  3. Pro includes up to 5 blogs

Pro now includes up to 5 Sets, each with its own blog, instead of 10. Nobody had more than 5, so no blog is affected.

  4. A pricing page

Pricing compares Free and Pro line by line and answers what happens if Pro ends. Get Pro takes you straight to Billing, through log in if needed.

  5. A new home page, and a seventh promise: made to last

The home page follows the headline: start writing, keep writing, let your words be seen. Our principles gain a seventh: Bearletter has no investors and is paid for by writers.

  6. Discover: Articles, Writers, and its rules in the open

Articles has Trending, Top (this month, this year, all time), Newest and Random. Writers lists who started publishing in the last 30 days. Worth rereading shows three older posts a day. Every rule is written out on How Discover works.

  7. Thoughts get their own page

Thoughts from Pro blogs, freshest first and gone after a week. A thought now holds up to 500 characters, long ones open with Show more, and thoughts stay out of search engines.

  8. Our principles

No ads, no paid placement, no selling data, no tracking readers. They hold on every plan and are published on the Principles page.

  9. Statistics by your time zone

Reads are dated in your blog's time zone, older visits are kept as daily totals, and On site now covers five minutes.

  10. Discover

Posts from Pro blogs ranked by what readers like and by time, with likes right in the list, tags, search through DuckDuckGo and an RSS feed for every view. New pages of Pro blogs are announced to search engines through IndexNow.

  11. Preview a theme on your own blog

Each theme in Appearance opens a preview of your blog in a new tab before you switch, and the gallery shows each theme as it really looks.

  12. A new home page and a new mark

The home page says what Bearletter believes. The ʕ·ᴥ·ʔっ✉︎ mark is now the logo and the favicon, and emails come from Bearletter.

  13. Terms and Privacy

Plain-language Terms of Service and a Privacy Policy, with hello@bearletter.com for questions.

  14. Bearletter, rebuilt

Write with autosave and versions, Sets for each blog or brand, a blog that is a folder of text, Thoughts, mailing lists, a media library, custom domains, statistics without cookies, the text API, and Pro at US$5 a month or US$50 a year.
